Herdsman responsible for coordinating the day
to day operations of the registered and commercial cattle herds totaling
3000+ head, and managing 8 employees on 5 separate ranches. Implemented
and maintained a computerized record keeping system for the ranch
cattle. Collected, analyzed, and recorded performance data on the
Hereford herd to provide EPD and selection criteria for our Herd
Improvement Program. Conducted Artificial Insemination on an average of
1000 cows per year. Produced 250 embryo transfer calves per year using a
pool of 50 donor cows. Developed drought management strategies to
overcome the drought of 95-’96, including developing cost efficient
diets utilizing alternative feeds (silage, brewers wet grain, fresh
vegetable complex, candy waste) and traditional feedstuffs. Procured
grain and protein products on the open market. Coordinated 5 production
sales and 1 drought dispersal sale. Duties included selection of the
sale offering, compiling pedigrees and performance data for the catalog,
health testing and fitting the cattle, and assisting the buyers in
selection of their purchases. Responsible for marketing of cattle sold
private treaty off the ranch. Provided custom breeding services to other
Hereford breeders.

administer super-ovulation treatments, and artificial insemination.
Coordinated and scheduled the on-farm and in-clinic superovulations,
synchronizations, inseminations and embryo collections. Maintained the
computerized records of the company and cattle, utilizing an IBM
personal computer and a network system (Zenix). Responsible for client
billing and maintaining the stored semen inventory. Responsible for
collection, processing, freezing, and storing semen from bulls residing
in-clinic. Interact with clients to determine what services they
